An Enchanted Evening

Corner

Imagine being in high school and unable to attend prom because a cancer diagnosis has changed your life. For too many teens diagnosed with cancer, this is their reality. But, in Western New York, an organization called Teens Living with Cancer (TLC) is helping to make sure that these teens won’t miss a thing.

On Friday, June 5, Teens Living with Cancer hosted the 2nd Annual TLC Prom for local teen can- cer survivors and patients. It was a magical evening for these deserving teenagers. Sephora vol- unteers made the teens feel like they were starring in their very own fairytale, after getting glammed up at the pre-prom party. The teens were then treated like royalty, when limousines chauffeured them from the pre-party to the main event at the Hotel Lafayette.

After enjoying a delicious dinner, the prom’s guests were treated to a show and dessert from Nitro Magic Ice Cream. The teens made memories in the photo booth, laughed with the caricature artists, and danced all the way out the door.

With all of the worrying and stress from a cancer diagnosis, the TLC Prom was a place where teens could escape and enter into a worry-free universe, with people who completely understand what they’re going through. It truly was a storybook night.
