Elmwood Franklin Dedicates Goin' Bald Event to Ms. Mourgas

Thursday, March 31, 2016

To celebrate their success in raising $7,000 for cancer research, Elmwood Franklin School visited the Kiss 98.5 studio to discuss their Bald for Bucks event on-air with DJ Anthony.

Elmwood Franklin School dedicated their Bald for Bucks event to Laurie Mourgas, a teacher who lost her battle to cancer. Students also had dedications, donating in honor of loved ones who were affected by cancer.

One student honored his mom, “The reason I went bald is for my mom who is a survivor. Love you mom.”

Students encouraged parents and teachers to get involved, so the students weren’t the only ones Goin' Bald at Elmwood Franklin. Ian Hunter, a fourth-grader at Elmwood Franklin, was the top fundraiser at their school. 18 other participants who went Bald for Bucks on March 15 accompanied him.

The Buffalo Bandits also made a special appearance at their Bald for Bucks event, showing support for the students, faculty, and staff at Elmwood Franklin! DJ Anthony, of course, joined in the fun as well.
