Cheektowaga Raises $15,000!

Wednesday, April 27, 2016

Two weeks after Goin’ Bald for Bucks, Cheektowaga Middle School students are still beaming with excitement from their fundraising event.  Cheektowaga accomplished their incredible goal of raising $15,000 for cancer research. To discuss their successful Bald for Bucks event, the Cheektowaga Warriors went on-air with DJ Anthony at Kiss 98.5.

Some of the students went bald, some raised money and some were on the planning committee. All had different reasons for participating in a great cause.

One student donated an astounding 10 inches of her hair! “I did it for a close family friend…I also did it for my grandma who lost her battle to cancer…and for everyone else affected by cancer.”

Cheektowaga had their own spin on going Bald for Bucks. Students not only shaved or cut their hair, but they also dyed their hair fun colors to honor those affected by cancer. Maddy Martin colored her hair for her grandpa who passed away from cancer, “I had a lot of fun doing it in honor of his memory.”

Liam Blake shaved his head for the first time in remembrance of loved ones. “I know two people who have passed away from cancer…thinking about them every day.”

The students, faculty, and staff at Cheektowaga Middle School are all extremely proud of themselves for raising $15,000 by going Bald for Bucks. Amazing job, Warriors!
