Goin Bald

Team Roswell Goes Bald!

Tuesday, February 18, 2020

Over 30 Roswell Park employees and friends went Bald For Bucks on Tuesday, February 18, to raise money for life saving research and show their support for cancer patients and survivors. Participants shaved their heads bald, cut and donated hair, and even shaved their beards!

DJ Anthony from Kiss 98.5 was the event emcee and kicked off the morning by sharing a little bit about the history of Bald For Bucks before turning the microphone over to Roswell Park’s President & CEO, Candace Johnson, PhD, who thanked all of the participants for making this commitment.

The group raised over $30,000 before the start of the event and donations were still rolling in while the shaving happened. One man even said he would shave off his eyebrows if someone donated five dollars right there on the spot!

There are several different ways you can Go Bald For Bucks so there’s an option for everyone. You can snip, clip, shave or style your hair to help the fight against cancer!

Many cancer patients lose their hair due to chemotherapy treatments and while going bald is not something they want to do, seeing a large group of people standing in solidarity with them and sharing the same hairstyle let’s them know they’re not alone in this fight and makes coping with the loss of their hair a little easier.
